Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics - GLOBEC

Global marine ecosystems constitute a critical component of the Earth System. The Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics –GLOBEC- Project studied how global change affects the abundance, diversity and productivity of marine populations. Co-sponsored by SCOR and IOC, GLOBEC ran for more than a decade and was an outstanding success.

GLOBEC concluded its work at the end of 2009. Some of its ongoing regional programmes are being incorporated into IMBER. IGBP and SCOR have published a Supplement to the IMBER Science Plan and Implementation Strategy to outline the topics that should be considered for incorporation into IMBER at the close of GLOBEC.
