IGBP-APN special issue of Weather and Extremes journal

News |

The outcomes of IGBP's synthesis on the needs of least-developed countries are documented in a special issue of the Weather and Extremes journal published last month. The synthesis was led by IGBP Scientific Committee member Pauline Dube and funded by the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research.

The IGBP synthesis topic was launched in 2010 to understand the needs of least-developed countries (LDCs). The special issue focuses on LDCs in the Asia-Pacific region as well as Small Island Developing States (SIDS). As the editors Dube and Sivakumar note, the special issue "draws from gray and published literature to integrate local information with global outputs and synthesize and provide insights on the interface between hydro-meteorological hazards and nthropogenic activity in the Asia Pacific and SIDS LDCs."

The issue is open access and can be viewed here. Information about the IGBP synthesis is here.
